Evening drop-in programs for families and teens.
Our evening drop-in programs: The Village and The Hangout, create opportunities for families and teens to connect with others in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our Youth Leaders program allows some of our past youth clients to develop their leadership capacity while supporting other grieving families.

The Village
The Village is a monthly evening drop-in program for client families with children 12 years and younger. It allows client families to connect with each other in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Village activities may include:
- Movie night
- Sports themed evening
- Crafts

The Hangout
The Hangout is a monthly drop-in program for teens who are grieving after a death or facing the life-threatening illness of someone in their lives. This group allows teens to connect with others through activities and discussions.
Youth Leaders
This volunteer leadership program is offered to some of our past youth clients, creating an opportunity for them to support grieving families through group activities. The youth leaders design each monthly gathering with the support and guidance of the Children’s Grief Centre staff.
About Groups
Why Peer-to-Peer Connection
Grief is how we respond when we experience loss. Grief is complicated, and there is no one way to experience it. Even members of the same family can grieve differently. Connecting with others can reduce the sense of isolation and feeling of loneliness that often come with grief.
Accessible to All
The Village is a free drop-in program for our family clients. Group fees are on a sliding scale based on family income. No one is refused service because of an inability to pay.
